Are You Flossing Correctly? Does It Matter?

Are you flossing your teeth correctly? Does it matter? Of COURSE it matters! You must floss below the gum line in order to kill the bacteria growing below the gum line. If your gums bleed when you floss, you have a form of gum disease. Do not ignore the bleeding – the problem will only get worse with time.
When you floss, be sure to hold the floss in a “C” shape around your tooth and get it below the gum line as well as sliding it up and down along the side surfaces of your teeth. This way, you dislodge food particles AND sweep away pesky bacteria from below the gum line.
Keep it up on a regular basis, and you will have a healthy beautiful smile.
