New studies show that dental implants improve the quality of life for women with missing teeth due to osteoporosis.
Many women experience the effects of post-menopausal osteoporosis – one of which is tooth loss.
Tooth loss occurs when the bone of the jaw is affected and deteriorates just as other bones in the body with osteoporosis. Bone is what “holds” the roots of the teeth to keep them stable in your mouth. Once this bone deteriorates and “shrinks”, there is less and less bone holding your tooth roots. Teeth become mobile and eventually fall out.
There are several options for restoration including partials, dentures, bridges and dental implants.
Compared with other restorative options, dental implants proved to be the most satisfying choice.
