New discoveries in the fight against oral bacteria have uncovered a different way to prevent bacterial growth. Titanium based materials when bonded with ions inhibit bacterial growth. Chemists have discovered a way to bind these titanium based materials with ions and create gels that dentists can use during oral procedures such as root canals, fillings and managing periodontal disease.
There is a possibility that these substances may one day be used on targeted treatments for internal organs or even on medical and dental devices.
