Prevent plaque build up, tooth decay and periodontitis by chewing a piece of gum? Is that possible?
U.S. Army researchers in San Antonio, Texas have developed a new anti-plaque gum that fights plaque as you chew it. It has been developed for troops to use overseas when they cannot brush their teeth. However, once it passes the trials and is approved by the FDA it will be available by prescription and eventually, you will be able to purchase it just as you would purchase nicotine gum. It will be a bit pricey, but worth it if it means preventing tooth decay and periodontitis.
