IF YOU ARE UNDER THE CARE OF A PHYSICIAN OR TAKING ANY MEDICATIONS:
- Please inform our office of all medications you are currently taking and the reason why. Patients taking Coumadin or Aspirin daily must have your physician FAX us any special instructions for stopping or altering your intake prior to surgery.

NUTRITION THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR SURGERY:
- Have a hearty supper the night before your surgery and a light breakfast the morning of surgery.
- If your surgery is in the afternoon, have a light breakfast and a light lunch.
- You will require someone to drive you home. NO TAXI CABS.
IV SEDATION INSTRUCTION
IF YOU ARE UNDER THE CARE OF A PHYSICIAN OR TAKING ANY MEDICATIONS:
- Inform your physician of your pending surgery and sedation and have him/her FAX special instructions for stopping Aspirin, Coumadin or other medications.
- If you have any trouble with your heart, lungs, liver, kidneys or are diabetic, your physician must provide medical clearance.
- Please inform our office of all medications you are currently taking and the reason why, so we may instruct proper usage the day prior to sedation.
- Please wear a loose fitting shirt for our nurse to have access to start your IV and for blood pressure and heart monitoring. Blankets are available if needed.
- You must have someone drive you home after surgery and stay with you the first 24 hours. NO TAXI CABS. Please leave the driverâs name and phone number with the front desk when you check in. Your ride needs to be back at our office 30 minutes prior to the estimated completion time of your appointment. Remember, it is an estimated time only. It would be preferable if your ride could bring a milkshake for you to eat on your way home or when you get home.
- Do not wear make-up the day of surgery.
IT IS IMPERATIVE THE NURSE KNOW THE FOLLOWING:
- Do you have any allergies?
- Have you ever had a reaction to a surgical procedure or anesthesia – such as nausea, vomiting rash, etc.?
- Do you smoke or have asthma?
- Are you pregnant?
NUTRITION THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR SURGERY:
Eat a good supper the evening before surgery, and you may have a snack and 8-oz. glass of water before bedtime or 8 hours before your surgery. If your surgery is to be done in the morning, DO NOT EAT OR DRINK anything after midnight the night before or the morning of your surgery. If your surgery is to be done in the afternoon (12:00 or later) â You may, 6 HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR SURGERY, have one or two slices of toast and one small glass (not more than 6 â 8 oz.) of milk or water. NO COFFEE, please!
